Wellness Within Reach

At Halo Animal Hospital, a wellness exam will be performed on your pet annually. We believe that the annual exam is one of the most effective means of maintaining your pet's health. Identifying and treating medical problems early is much less stressful to your pet and less expensive to you.

Controlling external and internal parasites, like fleas, ticks, heartworms, and internal parasites are extremely important aspects of preventative care for your pet. Many of these parasites can cause serious illness to your pet, and a few of them can even be contagious to you. At Halo Animal Hospital, we encourage routine diagnostics and preventative medications for all of the major parasite concerns because of these threats.

Vaccinations are another important part of preventative health care. One of the biggest changes in veterinary medicine in the recent years has been the advent of multi-year vaccinations. Under the old routine, almost all vaccinations were given annually, regardless of the doctor's assessment of the animal's health or it's risk of exposure to a particular disease. Here, vaccinations will be tailored much more closely to the individual needs of the animal. During the wellness exam, your pets will be given the appropriate vaccinations needed, based on individual risk assessments made by your veterinarian and you.
